Our Home

Built in 1864, the historic Hollister Mansion is the founding home of the Grand Rapids Alliance of Cooperative Communities.

JR House

The JR House was built in 1864 and is named after GRACC’s founder James Russell Jones. Historically known as the Hollister House, after Harvey J Hollister, a capitalist who purchased this homestead at the time when it was the only house on Fulton Street hill.

Monthly Costs

Private Room Rates: $525-800/mo
Utilities: $130/month flat rate includes WiFi, Heat, Electricity, Water/Sewer, Trash/Recycling
FORK: $90/mo - this goes toward shared meals, pantry, and basic household necessities, utilizing bulk purchasing to reduce costs on those items for all members.

Move-In Costs

Membership Share: $600
Each resident has to be a member of the cooperative; the purchase of a member share is a tangible demonstration of your voluntary commitment to our cooperative values and membership agreements, as well as granting you voting rights.

+Administrative Fee: $200
Covers the cost of processing applications and is not refundable.

+First Month's Room Costs: Rent (varies), Utilities ($130), and FORK ($90).

Our rooms are located in a historic mansion on a bus line in the heart of the Heritage Hill neighborhood of Grand Rapids, MI, close to GRCC, GVSU's downtown campus, and the Medical Mile on Michigan Street.

Parking & Laundry: On Site
Pets: Allowed on a case by case basis, but not allowed on the first floor.
Tobacco: Not inside, but outside on the property is welcome.

House Dinners every Sunday and Wednesday (except holidays).
THRIVE- monthly member education & appreciation gatherings.
Garden Circle- people who help with our vegetable garden.
Heart Circles- mindful explorations around authentic relating
Fun Stuff- movie nights, game gatherings, bonfires, etc.

House Meetings every other Sunday (except holidays).

 

Shared Stewardship
Contributions: members are expected to contribute their effort, skills, talents and passions toward completing tasks and projects.

Work Parties
 - are dedicated projects for all members to contribute their efforts and are held each quarter.
