Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you allow parent(s) with children?
GRACC has had families with children a lot throughout our history, and parent(s) with kids are welcome to become a part of our cooperative community. Although cooperative housing is not for everyone, we believe we offer a better way of living and relating, personal growth, and changing the world in our little corner, so we love the idea of young people being able to experience the benefits of cooperative living. The first step in that process is go to https://www.gracc.org/apply - there is no application fee!
  • When will there be an open room?
Our room availability changes throughout the year and it is often hard to predict when a room is available. Let's say you want to move in a month, or 3 months? It is best that you start with the application, so that once your background check/income verification clears, our Operations Professional will inform you of the rooms available at that time. If you are still interested at that point, you will be invited to take a tour including of the available rooms, observe a house meeting to get a glimpse of our cooperative community approach, and enjoy a meal with us. There is no fee to apply, you can apply at https://www.gracc.org/apply
  • What is your pet policy?
We allow pets on a case by case basis. Each house has rules on which floors will allow pets. We accommodate ESA pets based on what is considered a reasonable accommodation, that is by allowing pets on some floors, while at the same time accommodating persons who may have a pet allergy and would prefer to live on a floor without pets.
  • Is GRACC housing income-based?
GRACC housing is not income-based housing. We offer rooms at set rates for each room - which vary based on square footage and amenities. We do require that in order to qualify, your income needs to be 3 times the amount of the rent rate of a room. We do not have stipulations on the source of income except to verify that it is a steady reliable income that would ensure the member can fulfill their rent obligations.
